prepping for Resurection Day

it's a gloomy sort of muggy day outside. perfect for cooking, shopping, and staying indoors. We are missing the earth day celebrations in exchange for the Masters and cooking/dyeing eggs. We are scheduled to have a picnic with friends tomorrow. The 70% chance of rain may disrupt our plans, but our plan B is a picnic in the church. I am wondering if we can still hide the eggs there? Not so sure how Rufus would feel about that.

i am obviously over-ambitious writing 2 days in a row. don't expect such enthusiasm in the future.

Frank told me this week, "I'm just not into vanilla (pronounced banilla) anymore." when discussing our favorite ice cream flavors. in light of that... i have been thinking while cooking these muffins for church, what am I "into" these days. here goes:

-my pastry blender. i feel this is essential for baking. sorry mother, i know you like to use 2 knives, i just really disagree.
-LOST this season. i was almost done last year - so glad i stuck with it.
-my book, Jayber Crow, by Wendell Berry. my friend, Leigh, recommended it as one of her favorites. I am reading it very slowly so that it won't end. i like it that much.
-my current Bible study by Nancy Leigh DeMoss - it is called Seeking Him. the lessons are short and you can actually get them done. yet it is very powerful in content
-"Tell No One," a french movie that we watched last night. so nice to see a good movie, finally. thanks to my friend Amy for recommending that one. michael and i stayed awake to finish it, even on 2 hours of sleep the night before
-Sweet potatoes - cooked in every variation

Things i am not into right now:

-Teaching Ford to sleep. it is a misery. the boy has crying stamina that is unbelievable. i have now, as of this moment, decided to forfeit caffeinated beverages as a sign of my committment to helping this process improve. I am not sure it will help, but i will try anything at this point. Guess i will drink Jerry's Simply Smooth Foldgers Decaf he bought when in town.
-My bangs. i'm over them.
-Laundry. once a friend gave me good advice and suggested that I use the time folding laundry to pray for my family. With each garment, you pray for the person who will wear it, etc. I would like to say that i have fully adopted this practice, but i haven't. and i still don't like taking the folded clothes and stuffing them into drawers that are already too full.
-I despise when I don't fully read the directions while cooking. note the "muffins" that look like blocks that I made while working on this entry
-Decaf coffee.... This will be a sacrifice.
