Comments

Quick question for folks like Jane, Stephanie, and Rachel. Can you post a comment that explains how to post comments? Some of you folks have said you can't figure it out, and to tell the truth: I don't know how. I am perhaps not savvy enough to be a blogger.

  1. Well, let's see if I can post a comment without logging into anything... Test 1, 2, 3...

    And posting as "anonymous"

  2. Yep, that worked... That's probably the easiest way for people to do that. And you can sign your name if you want. (FYI, the "word verification" are to help prevent automated spammers from posting comments on your site, Erin. So, be sure to fill in the "word verification" part.)

  3. Or alternately, you can log into one of your accounts (eg, Google/Blogger, WordPress) - and the point of that is to make commenting more "social." And I can say, "Oh! Erin's friend Rachel posted a comment that I like! I want to know more about Rachel!" And then I might be able to follow a link to her site and discover, "Oh! She has 2 adorable kids!."

The OpenID option is SUPPOSED to consolidate/combine many of these online identities into one central identity. Or something like that...

But the best option is probably "Comment as: Name/URL" and just leave out the URL if you don't have one. Or perhaps the Anonymous option if you want to remain anonymous.

And Erin, you have the option (I think) to choose whether comments are posted to your site automatically or whether you want to be able to say "yay" or "nay" before things are posted. For instance, if you didn't trust your friends! (or afraid of spammers) you can turn this option on.
