we went to Crystal Bridges on new year's day with our friends visiting from houston.  yes.  that means we took 6 boys ages 6 and under to a fine art museum.
with only 4 adults.
surprisingly, it went beautifully.  the boys actually enjoyed the art, and submitted for the most part to holding our hands and not running around.  that is - until we entered the modern art exhibit.  michael and i decided to take a picture of Andy Warhol's Dolly Parton to send to my friend Taryn, who is newly related to Ms. Parton by a family marriage.  In so doing we briefly let go of our sons' hands.  less than one minute later we turn to say, "Where is ford?"

and there he was - both hands rubbing down the Lichtenstein.

 isn't that grand?

  2. I feel certain Lichtenstein would appreciate the kinesthetic learner. Perhaps not as much as Rauschenberg, but close. And please, where were the scowling docents who always follow us around when we go to free Thursdays at the MFA? Aren't they paid to make sure the art doesn't get a toddler rub down??
